Rumors of War - Kim Jong-un ‘Calls For More Ultra-Big Nuclear’ Weapons
Daily Express - Sung-Yoon Lee, Korea watcher at the Fletcher School, said Kim Jong-un has urged for “smaller, lighter nuclear bombs” to be produced by North Korea. He added the leader wants North Korea “advancing capabilities in accurate pre-emptive nuclear strike & second-strike capabilities on targets 15,000km away”. Mr Sung-Yoon then said: “Something tells me Kim's not keen on denuclearization.”
Rodong Sinmun, North Korea’s state newspaper, also reported Kim Jong-un has called for a boost to the country’s nuclear capabilities.
The newspaper said: “The goal was proposed to further enhance the accuracy rate of accurately hitting and extinguishing random strategic targets within the range of 10,000 and 100km to enhance the nuclear pre-emptive and retaliatory strike capabilities.”
The Korean Central News Agency, another state outlet, also added Mr Kim expressed his “will to reliably protect the security of the country and people and the peaceful environment of the socialist construction by pla
cing the state defence capabilities on a much higher level”.
